Yurkos song of the day: Best of You-
by the Foo FightersPabbay (n.)
(Fencing term.) The play, or manoeuvre, where one swordsman leaps on to the table and pulls the battleaxe off the wall.
Ahh Douglas Adams, I dont think i could ever get tired of his humour. Post coming in slightly later than my planned saturday but at least i have a few good excuses this time. Namely working the night shift on saturday (last one ever hopefully) and then going to see Star Wars last night so i wanted to wait it out a bit so i had something to talk aboot.
*Addition of the actual post (Wed May 25th) and the removal of the half assed placeholder*
Here i go again, taking another crack at this here post. Why am i not just starting a shiny new post? well because i love the excerpt today and it should be actually utilized instead of being forced to be the opening line to what was esentially nothing. Annywho i believe i shall move on. Great song today/yesterday, it being the first single from the Foo Fighers up and coming sure to be epic album
In Your Honour. Why do i think it will be epic beyond all belief? Well to answer that question I give you an excerpt from a letter Dave Grohl posted on the bands site recently about it
' "In Your Honor" will be the bands fifth album. Almost exactly a decade from the release of the first Foo Fighters record, it will come out in June. It is a double album, as promised. One CD rock, one CD acoustic. It will surprise you. It surprises me. Almost a year in the making, from 5 hours of bedroom demos, to warehouses being built from the ground up, to months of rehearsals, to the construction of an 8,000 square foot classic recording studio, to the recording of 40 songs, to the final track list of 20 songs, it is by far the most ambitious project I have ever had anything to do with in my entire life.'
So needless to say I am pumped beyond all belief for it. You guys could probably care less but I know it will definetly be a source of musical enjoyment for myself and in my rather selfish little bubble that's all that really matters.
Speaking of music I got the new Weezer CD a weekish ago, along with a few other assorted albums I have been meaning to get for a while. Its a pretty good record even though i am not a huge fan of the much hyped "Beverly Hills" song. Far to repetitive for my liking and overplayed for that matter. My reccomendations are "This is such a Pity" and "We are all on drugs" although i do find pretty much the entire album great listening material.
I also purchased the latest Moby CD which is somewhat of a mixed bag for me. The second ambiant CD is some nice relaxing sleep inducing music which is basically the whole point of ambiant music so if anything that was a worthwile purchase. The first cd (and the album proprer for that matter) I have been yet to listen to. Much of that has to do with the fact that I was such a fan of both 18 and Play that I really dont feel like being let down by an CD that is supposed to be quite the letdown. Chances are I will listen to it one of these days but right now i just cant bring myself to stick it in the old drive and well listen.
Sticking with this trend I might as well mention other purchases of much enjoyment. Biggest of all would have to be getting Scrubs Season 1 last week. Its funny how even with a show that you remember as being great can still suprise you with how many jokes you forgot and somehow become all the better. I had always thought that in its initial run I had missed a few of the early episodes but appearantly all i ever missed was the pilot which is somewhat of nice news to a fan like myself. Regardless the humour of the show still stands after a good 3,4 years and for that I am pleased. Dr. Cox is still my role model in life, if only i could become such a bitter, sarcastic talented doctor. One can always dream... one can always dream.
Earlier today I also found out about and then purchased the second season of Samurai Jack. Yes its a kids show and you all will probably shake your heads but meh in my eyes it is some great entertainment and thats all that matters. For waht it is, the show is very well done. I am hard pressed to find something that can be truly funny at times and then serious at other times all wrapped in a saturday morning "kids tv" package. Maybe it has to do with my enjoyment of comics or my resistance to the concept of growing up but its money well spent for my sake.
Well I did have some other things to talk and rant about but well most of it required a rather jovial tone and after hearing some recent family news its something i just dont have right now. Ill probably (hopefully) be feeling a bit happier by next week when you can expect a fuller and longer post.
Untill then,
Yurko the man using a nickname that has really lost its relivance now that high school has ended.

well it has been far too long since a proper comment was made by me, but then again it has been far too long inbetween ur posts!
its crazy the lengths some artists and groups go to to record an album. im sorry- whats wrong with all the millions recording booths they have already...or even better- what about the ones that are surely in all of ur houses?! oh well, if i had a ton of money i would probably do that to. better yet- build a new house every time my mood changed to accomidate it. *just so u know i'm taking the bad spelling to the next level now because i'm not even gunna try. u were warned*
ugh WEEZER too?! what is this! add some U2 and it'll be all the bands (plus oasis) who are ok but for some reason i seem to be missing something because i don't like them like everyone else in the world apparently does.
p.s. the beverly hills....no wait. wrong group. i was thinking about moby. have u seen his new video thats like- the sex party but animals! and its giant animals and then the rabbit flips the fuck out and kills himself and then the moose who is doing his rabbit wife in the car even tho he was supposed to be gettin it on with another animal. SO WEIRD! MOBY! perhaps it wasn't even moby. i just couldn't look past the animal sex party. who thinks of that...
u have money coming out of ur ass don't u. i don't get it. before now u never worked but u have an endless supply to buy dvd's (of shows non the less so thats up in the 80's) and all these cd's like they're candy! i shake my fist at ur sir.
u converted me into a samurai jack fan. i was like "what the hell this is lame" and then u gave me the first season and i was a fan once the scottish dude was introduced. that and the robotic aligartors hahaha.
i still await this family news. i normally wouldn't pry but u did mention it in ur blog so anything is fair game in that aspect. thats cool tho.
don't worry....victor still calls u yurko....i have moved onto the more classy and sophisticated Topher. as u might have noticed.
UNTIL THEN,
jenn
