Yurko's song of the day: That's Me Trying - by William Shatner

Peening Quarter (n.)
That area of a discotheque where single men lounge about trying to look groovy about not having the courage to ask a girl to dance.

And so with that I am back, an entire reader base shorter and a new template none the less. Why the new template your probably not asking? Well I felt that after such a long hiatus that something had to be done to spice this site up abit not to mention have something to show for being away for so very long of a time. I hope that you like the new look, although I am sad to say that the fancy flash links on the top lead to nowhere due to the fact that its a free template and so i am unable to really edit it. The plan is to replace all of the standard side links with fancy flash ones of my own making but that will take some time but hopefully by the end of the summer there will be a version 4.X that is to my liking. A few changes namely the fact that all of you are now "Affiliates" (it came with the template and i got a chuckle out of it so it stayed) and the addition of all my favourite web comics. That list is definetly in order of my frequenting but by no means are any of them not funny. All classics in their own right and bear a full reccomendation by the illustrious review panel working behind the scenes of this site.

Anywho yes today's song is by William Shatner, from his most recent album Has Been which i urge all of you to at least give a chance before completly writing off because for some strange reason its actually quite a catchy album. Much of that probably has to do with the fact that Ben Folds was involved with all of the real musical aspect but regardless you will be hard pressed to find something so rediculous and enjoyable at the same time (in CD format anyways). For the forseable future the quote of the day will be replaced with definitions from Douglas Adam's brilliantly funny mock dictionary The Deeper Meaning of Liff which i got a while back but well its been a while back plus about 8 since my last post.

Speaking of the absurdly amusing/things long time coming/Douglas Adams I went and saw the Hitchiker's Guide movie waay back when i returned from the blue collar kingdom of Edmonton. I must say that walking into it I was somewhat worried considering how much of a fan I am of his work. I am happy to say though that it turned out to be quite enjoyable. Granted its a film that you would enjoy immensly more having read the book series if only because of the semi-emotional attachment you would have with the charachters. Speaking of the charachters I would go as far to say as the film was perfectly cast, Arthur seemed like arthur, same with ford and the rest but the real show stealer was Zaphoid. Such a great performance as the egotistical, moronic politician. My only real big complaint with the film was the whole romance thing they slapped on just because it was a movie. In the books having Trillian actually liking Zaphoid made more sense, that and the final part of the film with the mice was just lame with the whole romance BS. Sure it was nice to see them get together etc but it just felt like what it was, tacked on and lame. Oh well, it was still a great movie if only because it managed to capture the zany spirit of the books which is no small feat considering how unique the books are. Realising now that there is a very good chance that Jenn and I are the only two of all of you who have seen it it was a moot paragraph. Move on? Lets!

Obviously made it through first year, grades were nowhere near what i had set myself to but ill take them. Next year is going to be a totally different game though mostly because i wont be such a dumbass in some regards and well hey no more chemistry or english for the rest of my existence. A reason to celebrate? I think so. Plus I'm taking 2 history courses next year so coupled with some courses im interested in next year is looking up.

Not much else to talk about, went and saw the Killers which was fun but im too lazy to go into my thoughts on that. Some really good CD's coming out but ill go into those when they come out and i purchase them. Same goes for Season 1 of Scrubs which comes out this week. That being said my plan is to start putting posts on this thing again at a weekly rate which might be complicated by the fact that my video card refuses to do what it should and render 3d things so the computers going to be in the shop for a bit. Still I will try to maintain that schedual because my lack of posts this year was just embarrasing. Well that basically wraps it up for today. Thanks for coming back and keeping the faith if you have read this.

Oh quick side note it looks like Mr.Chris is going to be working in the wonderful world of the service industry this summer. So yeah if you want to dish out some ridicule at that tall lanky kid you used to associate with ill be pedding reheated frozen doughnuts at the Timmy's in northland and hopefully also selling books at chapters in dalhousie if the ladie phones me back like she promised.

Till Next Ramble,

The Amazing, Boring and still as lame as ever Yurko
