Well that brings to a close this end of weeks and boy was it a something. aa Sound System was pretty keen, its just a shame that the group they were opening for (aka the actual group most were there to see) was quite the boring blandness. Oh well it was still a great night in a great venue (Oh why must the Sidetrack cafe close in a few weeks. The new location had better been better than awesome, or closer) with some amazing super sample appetizer platters so i really cant complain.
Saturday was bland minus some great pizza.
Sunday however with its concert of concerts was well fucking awesome. The Thurston Revival opened and i was thoroughly impressed. Very unique sound not to mention a blood key-tar so there was no way it could go wrong. The Stars themselves put on a wicked set of their own with some amazing stage prescence (makes all the difference, take note of that The Killers). My only moment of sadness was the lack of them playing Celebration Guns, my favourite of theirs by far, but hey beggars cant be choosers. Regardless them Crazy Frenchmen kicked out some great rocks with the odd roll and when in the Encore there was a Bananna Maracha busted out i nearly lost it. Great, great show that is definetly in the top of this years live musical experiences.
What really made the night had to be seeing the two guys from Thurston Revival outside after the show and, via my friend justin, getting free copies of their CD if we promised to send them some stuff in trade. The barter system is quite awesome folks. Only in Indie Rock could you find such laidback, cool guys.
Thats it for me, have a great one and heres hoping my midterm tomorrow goes well.
