Yurkos song of the day: Pinball Wizard -
by The Who
"Not baked goods, Professor, baked bads!"
Quite possibly the lamest quote I have ever used for an opening line but well I am inherently lame so life does press on. Also in retrospect there is a very good chance I have used that quote before but do I care? Not enough to change it thats for sure. Normally I would wait a touch longer to put up a new post what with there being only 2 comments thus far, plus the whole fact that its christmas eve but hey not only was it a very dissapointing post to begin with but I am leaving tomorrow on mein vactation to that place starting with an M, rhymes with Exico... you know the place, you were there, I was there, ahh good times...goood times. Needless to say i probably wont be around a computer so I felt i should leave you with something to not read. Consider it my gift to all of you because the Black Death doesnt come in the party packs anymore and well ill be damned if i buy you each a diseased rat separately.
I have realised that most likely my 1 year or something along those lines anniversary of doing this junk has came and gone. Then again i have never really went by date on these things but rather the number of posts. Thanks the the all benevolent Blogger though i cant really do that either because there once helpful little counter of how many blogs you have written decided that 94 is far enough and went and found a nice little retirement cottage somwhere down south. All that can be done is the very slow process of a manual count and I am not about to do that any time soon. So just for the sake of saying things lets say its some evenish number and let out a half assed huurah!
Good song today, an oldie but a goodie. Felt it was time to do at least one song that hasnt been released in the last little while because well whats this world coming too if all i talk about is modern music. Like comon this is Yurko im talking about...(talking about myself? hmm mefinks ive gone crazy). Dont worry though ill be sure to put more of the new music goodness that I have learnt about. Moving onwards!
Well it is obviously the festive time of year such and so forth. Dont really think i need to extoll any of its detals to you folks because if you dont know now what its all about im pretty certain either TV or the Coca-cola corporation will fill you in. I must say though that i was pretty happy with teletoon and their decision to show all their weekend programming every day leading up to today. Allowed myself to take a great deal of both the new duck dogers and the new batman shows. Both damn funny/cool respectivly and since i never have time to watch them in edmonton i was well happy.
Sticking with the Batman theme I completly forgot to mention this last post so i might as well now. The good folks at Warner Bros. have released the new, extented trailer for the up and coming Batman Begins film which I am obviously very pumped for. Of course im guessing that none of you have ever checked the link i have had on the side there for a good 4 months. Comon people its only like 15cm to the left of this its not that hard. Just click the damn thing and watch the trailer... Fine then here is a "more convenient" link for you...lazy sobs...
Batman Begins Trailer
Seriously though its pretty damn cool so take a look.
Man the Salmon of Doubt is by far one of the saddest books i have read in a very long time for obviously very different reasons. Not obvious you say? Well i would start calling you a dumbass but then well somehow i think my already shrinking readership would start to suffer. Aaannywho its a sad book because it was the last one that douglas adams wrote and for that matter never finished before he died back in 2000. A real shame because it begins as one of his best, well in my opinion anyways because im such a fan of the Dirk Gently books and its truly funny...and yet never will i know how it ends. Sigh.
Ah well that pretty much wraps it up for me because i tire of this post, marks are yet to come in so i cant complain about that. Hope everyone has a merry christmas/snowflake day/festivus and see you all in the new year.
Till Next Ramble,

P.S. Just came across quite possibly THE best background in a long while, esp for the holiday season. If you dont get it well i recomend you read more of VG cats

Yurkos song of the day: Powertools and Piss -
by Glucifer
"A heart of gold beats beneath that big fiberglass croissant, and thank goodness for it!"
Wow nearly a month since the last post. You guys probably deserve a new one and such and well honestly i had no plan on doing one today but Mauricio came online (he being a really good friend from rez who has now moved back to Colombia, sigh....) and well i figured might as well stay on ze old computer. Moving on shall we?
Havent made a new post in a while because I have been fighting the good fight against the evil that is the final exam. Luckily its all done and here i am back in good old calgary. Hopefully all the exams went well but i wont know for sure untill the marks come in. 1 semester down, many many more to go.
Really nothing to talk about on here today, great song today by a Norwegien group. Has a very 80's vibe to it which obviously fits me like a glove musicially, that and the title is just so absurd how can you resist eh? YOU CAN'T!! so just live with the fact and move on.
Hmm this is really going to a pitiful post but meh ill live. I've started utilizing the MSN answer to blogger, MSN spaces. Its pretty interesting, although i doubt it will ever take the place of this site. I can see why it would be great for a first time person wanting to start a blog, easy to set up, customise to some degree and start posting. The importing of a playlist and allowing people to rate it is pretty cool, as is the picture function which is what im using it for mostly. On that note if you want to see a few shots of where im living 8 months of the year swing over to the link at the bottom of this and take a look. The overall sight is far to rigid and customizeable for my liking though, regardless of the template you pick the site ends up basically looking the same which doesnt really work for me. Ah well it has its good points that i will utilize as an offshoot of this site but the majority of my stuff will remain here. Ergo here be the link
Yurko the Boring MSN offshoot.
Yeah well im done, not much for you guys to comment on but hey still just drop by and say hi cause im back in calgary now so yeah consider that an open invite to meet up with all you folks that i havent seen in so very long. (BTW neil good show on updating your site yet again, ill have to get around to commenting on it such and so forth)

Yurkos song of the day: Miracle Drug -
by U2
"A man can't be too careful in the choice of his enemies."
Thats right people, its a new post straight from the brain of your lovable rambling fool. This probably could have went up far earlier (yet still maintaining the same level of crap) but well i didnt want to put up a new post till i got the new U2 album (giving me something at least to talk about) and then well i got lazy as i normally do and put it off till tonight when i dont feel like studying. Hmm think i can top that "sentence" for lack of well a break? Lets find out!
So yeah lets get the boredom of life out of the way. Semester one is coming to a very rapid and scary car-wreckish ending but at this point i could care less. Damnit wheres my christmas already!! Finally done my chem 101 labs, which is great considering all the other labs are wrapping up next week. Should be working on a rather stupid essay critique but meh its only due tomorrow so life will go on. Thats enough on school because lets face it no one ever wants to hear about that.
Finally finished Going Postal which turned out to be a rather good book, then again its the only real book ive had time to read while up here. Damnit! and reading used to be such a factor in my "down" time. Ah well, good read although slightly odd considering it had actual chapters and well a staple of Pratchetts writing has been the lack of chapters. Gave the book a better flow without them but meh ill live, it passed the time etc.
Floor went to the waterpark in west ed on saturday and boy was it a fun way to blow off a day. Well minus the incredibly cool but incredible rip off thumb-print activated lockers. Somehow i doubt that a space slightly larger than a shoebox is worth 6 bucks to rent, fancy high techery or not (yes thats right techery; what you gonna do about it?). Waterslides were a blast though, especially the blue bullet. Man races in that was so fun especially once we found out which tube went faster and then obviously did a team race. Good times..good times. Just so long as you dont ride the tropical typhoon, aka toilet bowl, aka cheese grater for ones back. Dear god is it so hard for them to just smooth down the edges connecting the plastic sections? Ah well one bad factor of all the slides, plus standing in defiance of the waves was quite fun albeit made us look like fools but isnt that whole point of it all?
Of course it is. Jeeze what a dumb question to ask
Aannywho. Also bought Blade Runner while at west ed which i found for 11 bucks on DVD. this of course made my day because its one of my favourite movies of all time. Such a good film which i reccomend you all go and rent and then say what is this crap and throw a rock at yours truly. Bricks are also fine and Neil the howitzer is back from the cleaners so its available for those who are outside of hucking range. My opinion of the movie will still stand though, regardless of any chunks of pavement flying at my person.
While on the topic of buying things I got the latset CD by U2 whose best song now graces todays song of the day. Its a pretty good album overall i must say, not up to the extremly lofty standards of The Joshua Tree but still far better than their last in my opinion. Also i think its better than some of the reviews its getting but then again i do have a rather odd and random taste in music (considering i like both journey (often credited with being one of the stalest acts of the late 70's) and the police (a part of the New wave movement that brought about the end of such groups as Journey)). So yes expect some of the others songs from the album showing up in that nice happy line at the top of the blog that i am sure no one even pays attention too.
Speaking of music ive also came across another extremly great sounding new group called Metric. Although not really all that new waht with being around since 2001 ish, they are new too me and if anything one of the definite perks of rez is being able to find out about the fact that there still is good new music out there. Closest comparison i have for their style is a killers esq vibe (what with the synthesizers and all) but with a female lead singer. Top notch all around. Be sure to see a few of their songs mixed into the songs of the day along with the new U2 stuff.
Holy cow i really havent posted in a while considering ive now bought Half Life 2 and are at least 3/4 of the way through it. Man alive... well regardless i can happily say it was well worth both the wait and the money. Such a quality game, from the graphics to the story and the gameplay is just so much damn fun. None of the predictablitiy of Doom 3 (well minus the fact that its now commonplace for blood streaked wall to equal zombie attack but for some reason it never gets dull like it did in Doom). Guns all sound perfect, everything just feels right and that reload animation on the pulse rifle is just far to slick for words to do it justice. Near perfection i tell you, obviously not the best game ever but it comes damn close.
Moving on so i dont sound overtly geeky ill comment a bit on you guys and call it an evening. And in retrospect there isnt much to comment on. Ergo actually yeah that is what the backs of our shirts look like jackie. A guy on our floor has a silk screen and he did them all for us so they turned out rather nifty looking. Oh send my thanks over to your sister for pointing out how the bastards at Guinness Canada are lying sacks of shit and its the canned stuff that i want... and in retrospect yet again i realised ive talked to all of you since that post and well replied to all those comments. (btw thanks for the long awaited return to the world of the commenting Jenn, you bumped the avg comments back up over 5; kudos!) So..
