Yurkos song of the day: Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2 -
by Pink Floyd
"Hey, don't knock crazy. The Romans were crazy, and they got all the girls."
Yay! New post, quite possible not a yay from you folks but it beats doing ones prelabs so its a yay for I. Granted i just realised as i began this that i pretty much have a near deficit of things to talk about so be prepared for another short, pointless and most probably boring post. Good song today, an old classic, great quote today cause well it makes me chuckle and in the long run isnt that all that matters? Hmm well in the very long run it matters for nothing at all but right now my "long run" consists of the next hour or so. Wow not making any sense and im not even a paragraph in... oh wait now i am.
Midterms are half done, which deserves a hearty something or other. Bio went pretty well, considering i got a 88.9% on it, its no 100% mind you but it will do :P Gah youve gotta love the irony on chem though. Blasted midterm was utter crap, considering that there was much more theory on the damn thing than she said there would be not to mention the nice happy questions that expect you to remeber an example that took 5min at the start of the class a month and a half ago. Damn that test and its inherent crapitude, ah well life goes... to an organic chem midterm. Frickin university, it never ends for gods sake! That wasn't the worst part of the week though, for that happy prize is definetly reserved for English. Oh what fun it is to get back your first formal essay to be happily greeted by a sea of red marks and a nice uplifting C. What makes it worse is that i dont even have the satisfaction of being able to bitch at the prof. cause i do agree with his comments. Stupid constructive critcism, ruins all the fun. BTW jackie im fully aware of my lack of punctuation skills, that statement was more of an inside joke between neil and I cause after your english prof says "your punctuation seems hapazard" i think i get the message (of course the fact that minus the period most of my punctuation is pretty much random has nothing to do with it at all). I'd still love a good reason why a pre-med student has to be able to write an english essay let alone analyse 17th century poetry considering all the writing skills needed in science are taught to us via formal labs.
Oh man, last nights halloween dance was probably one of the most boring experiences ever. Due mostly to the fact that i cant really dance so i just looked like a total loser (and i wasnt drunk enough to ignore that fact, frickin vodka jellow shooters having no effect at all (bloody lack of my own alcohol)). Man i miss the days of the techno-riverdance infused stupidity cause at least there it was a group of us acting dumb and hey it was funny/fun so it worked out. Oh well at least the appearant tradition of females competing to have the sluttiest halloween costume held up, made for something good to look at (hides from ensuing beating by all the female readers). Im not sexist, i can just appreciate a good view. Lets move on shall we?
Seeing as how im out of anything else to say, that or forgotten or probably both i might as well comment on some comments. Nothing to say on any of Neil's stuff, so lets skip to Mr. Keith who has appearantly decided to comment on every second post. Less energy wasted so i applaud you sir. Anywho fair enough, i was flawed in saying there hasnt been a good simpsons in 10 years, 4 possibly 5 years would be a better estimate. Of course when i say nothing good im talking more on the general feeling of a season, because there is always the odd good one here and there. Last two seasons though its felt more like a sheer fluke but thats beside the point. I am fully aware of the various stinkers in the futurama run (The Leela blurnsball episode comes immideatly to mind) but it just appeared to me that during the shows 5 year run there seemed to be far more hits than misses compared to the recent seasons of the simpsons. Yes the recent episodes have had a memorable line or two ("looks like your missing a puzzle piece." "looks like your missing a wife") yet it just doesnt seem to have the same quality behind it anymore. A good indicator of that is when a show starts taking various plotlines thats its built up for a good few years (barney becoming sober, principle skinner etc) and either forgetting about them complely for the sake of one rather bad joke or using one bad episode to just toss it all in the garbage can. Regardless i tire of this topic, and i should get back to work so i shall move on.
As for your Metallica analogy Keith it has never been about whether or not they have good lyrical skills etc that prevents me from liking them its just there overall sound. I am sure if i actually was able to listen to a song i would see your point but well i just cant stand how they sound (personal preference and all that) thus preventing me from appreciating these "subtle lyrics." That being said i probably would still scoff and ridicule just cause its what i do plus its always good fun :P (haha crap out a great big sea, i love it!). I do see the point you were getting at though Keith, considering alot of what i enjoy about Futurama does require more viewage/enjoyment than what can be gathered from just casual viewing. Finally yes there be a rather nice shot of ze swedish chef on the poster, in fact he is pretty much right in the centre of the entire group. Im personally pleased at the fact that it has Dr. Teeth on it, who is in my opinion the best Muppet charachter ever created. Its a shame he was voiced by Jim Henson and so that in all the movies/shows made after his death he was reduced to background filler that never talked. Siggghh ah well life goes on.

Yurkos song of the day: Here comes the Sun -
by The Beatles
"When you have to kill a man, it costs nothing to be polite."
Ahoy all, making another post albeit on pretty much nothing. Why? cause im extremly bored and i dont feel like beginning my massive amount of studying for next week. Rather amusing quote in the usual winston churchill sense of wit, rather old school-ish song; one that you just cant help but feel happy when listening too. Hooray disjointed sentences? Oh before i continue There will be no commenting on the spelling (or lack thereof) or you will be shot. Honestly i get more than enough of it from my english prof so i dont need to hear it from a frickin engineer for gods sake. Im not bitter... God i really shouldnt be doing a blog right now, damn Math and its inherent boredom completly killing my brain, so my apoligies if this starts to make no sense very quickly. Granted feel free to check out at any point, although be warned there is no stamp for re-entry.
Hooray for the poster sale and its incredible overpriced posters! Ah well it allowed me to get some much needed decoration for the ol' cave. Mostly (and by mostly i mean entirely) in the form of a few movie posters (
Back to the Future, Last Samurai, Ghostbusters, a small
Blues Brothers one) a very cool shot of Dirty Harry, a beautiful poster of one of mans best cars (the V12 Vanquish) and a very cool poster of the Cast of the Muppet Show (damn right the Muppets). Slightly dissapointed they didnt have any james bond movie posters, nor one of Heat cause well that would have been just great. Ah well it will do, covers up the bland off-white walls.
After a good 4 days of mortal combat i finally defeated the horrid creature that was the bio research lab on tuesday. My god those things are a pain in the old buttox. Well the report itself isnt all that bad (or so i think, but im sure ill be changing that opinion when we get the marks back) but its the stupid and incredibly pointless research portion that is just well stupid and pointless. Why does it matter if you can find and relate some random, barely read japanese science publication on the freezing resistance of certain types of mangoes to your lab? Whats worse is that they dont even make you do this in any second year bio course making all of that effort totally and completly pointless. Gah stupid university and its inherent pointless nature.
Im slightly worried about the upcoming midterms, well not the chem 101 one; the only way it could be hard is if i show up to it drunk, missing one eye, half of my brain (either half will do) and finding out that i actually wrote a third year physics exam. If and when hybrid orbitals, lewis structures etc become hard i think there will be other things to worry about at the time such as oh i dont know the frickin end of the world? but i digress, bio should be painful considering ive got a weekend to relearn all that he taught us (so basically bio 30ap and well we all know how much attention i payed in smiths class). I dread the organic chem midterm, granted if i study ill prob do fine but when will that happen? Jeeze you crazy people. Math i cant understand the prof so what happens there will be a total suprise and english we dont get a midterm (yay!) instead we get weekly quizes, essays and an "online participation mark" (yay....?)
Man oh man this is a pathetic post *hangs head in shame* ah well at least i know how to somewhat use punctuation so its at least not a marathon to read (hehe neil). Considering ive got nothing else to say might as well reply to the massive 2 people who commented. Hooray for you jackie and neil, you win the proverbial cookie (no real cookie, any possible real cookies must be returned immediatly under pain of bubonic plague)! Firstly yes Nutsy is a classic, if it wasnt for the fact that its well the nazi emblem i would make him my display picture cause of the humour value. Ahh good times not politically correct at all. Sadly its a multiple amount of people who dislike futurama, which i dont think ill ever be able to understand. I just think its the lack of oxygen up here in edmonton, that or the lack of intelligence. Either way something is preventing these folks from understanding the brilliant humour abound in the show (and no neil its not all just silly humour, if you do think a bit there is some subtle stuff; far more than what the simpsons has done in a good 10 years). I still will probably never understand why Hollywood is so liberal, considering the amount of money all these folks have and well rich in most normal circumstances = hard ass conservative. Ahh well ill use my standard response of meh they're in (or most likely were) in arts. Ill prob be swinging back at christmas, although there is a chance of heading back during the remeberance day weekend. So yeah anyone who wants to hang out around then sounds good...dont all shout at once...anyone?...at all?...

Yurkos song of the day: Sultans of Swing -
by Dire Straights
"The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who don't have it."
Whoa a somewhat regular schedualish post? Madness!! (Hmm i say madness far to often these days during posts) Yes well i really wanted to put up a new post pretty much due to one reason, that i must inform everyone in existence of and get pretty much the same reaction that i am up here (Dear god your a loser, etc etc), plus it ties well into my bitching about the US election etc, and my much felt lack of being able to watch the Daily Show. In fact this pretty much comes as a direct, albeit unintentional response to your comment Jackie, because what i have found is not only the perfect replacement for the Daily Show (not suprising, but that will become appearant in a bit) but quite possible THE FUNNIES/BEST book ever written (wow two posts now where ive declared something the best in existence, gotta feel sorry for everything else now, such high standards to live up to). The best feeling that comes from reading this book is that someone took a firehose and tapped it into my sense of humour and then blasted it full force into the pages of a book. Less than halfway through and ive laughed more times than i can count. Pure satirical greatness. Now what is this book you are probably impatiently wondering considering im yet to say what it is? Why America (The Book): A Citizens Guide to Democracy Inaction by John Stewart no less. So not only does the book manage to make fun of American Democracy, a good chunk of the history/rest of the worlds democracy but it is done in the form of a social textbook so it lampoons them as well. For a self-declared Social loser it is great, and probably out of anyone who reads this you will get just as big if a kick out of it as i am Neil. Everything from the pointless little sidebar info things commonly found in social textbooks (Such as 'Were you Aware? If the president were the longest recorded flight by a chicken, he would be thirteen seconds.) or one of the funniest things ive ever seen in a book; in a section on national mascots they have "Nutsy; Hitlers brief flirtation with a 'warmer, fuzzier' approach to Nazism". Man oh man its just great. Well after all of that im sure that ive bored each and every one of you to the point that you want to come and lobotomise me with a howitzer (yes neil it is a multi-purpose howitzer). Ah well i will just continue to read it on my own, inhance my cynisim of the US and go on with life.
Well on with the other stuff, found out that right now im sitting right on the top of the curve in org chem which bites HUGE chunks, damnit i need to get on the positive side of the bloody curve not fucking "average". Grrr, blasted 10% quiz and its inherent stupidness. I really should be working on my Big formal Bio lab report but noo certain people were complaining at the lack of a "Promised" saturday post, if i fail its all your collective faults NOT MINE. Err why would i care about what Ontario does for the provincial leaders? its not like i live there or anything; and last i checked your pretty close on the Canadian conservative scale as i am sir so shat up.
Speaking of politics i just pretty much hate it when artists of any sort try to force there opinions on me regardless of what they are, damn morons think they are suddenly political genuses just because they made 2 hit records. Hmm im pretty sure ive done that rant before so ill stop. Oh and in case i havent mentioned this before; just so that you people know where i stand, if i lived in the US i would most likely vote Nader just to A) not vote for either of the two morons running and B) throw my vote away (which is what voting for a third party boils down to). Now granted like i said i dont give a rats ass about the US and its election but just so that you folks dont start throwing eggs at me for thinking im a bush supporter, cause clearly all of you are pinko-commie Democrats :P Hooray for having a biased audience! Meh when has that ever changed what i have to say?
Well Bloody 'ell, So now that ive officially transitioned over to the deflatormouse@gmail.com account, those insensitive bastards at hotmail decide to bump the storage up to 250mb which is pretty much all that i require. Gah, and msn works so much better with a hotmail account. Ah well im not going to put myself nor the rest of you through the inconsistency or pain in the assery of switching back to flash_5_@hotmail.com, plus theres too many morons on that list that i dont feel like talking to/to lazy to just delete. Yes a pointless paragraph, LIVE WITH IT
Bah on the geneal populace around here, not only do people up here appearantly hate Futarama, and some especially Bender (which is still a mind boggling concept for yours truly; like comon the show is greatness in animated form) but i am lacking of any worthy adversaries for my sarcasm/unique yurko-style wit. This is a scary thing folks cause without the sarcasm and stupid wittiness who or what am i?? When the best response i can come up with involves a Mullet i know that the formerly oh so very sharp edge to my sarcasm has dulled. Gad damnit! Why did you have to go to UofT neil, 2 years of keeping our sarcasm razor sharp was great, but now...sigh. People even miss it here when im being sarcastic, whats the bloody point if no one but me picks up on it? Damn jerks and there inability to understand the sharp sting of sarcasm. Sarcastro I have dishonoured you!
plus after that im pretty sure i just dishonoured myself, all of you and probably some small island tribe of the coast of paupa/new guinea. Ah well im sure all of us can get over it, except maby keith and possibly the small children of said tribe.

Yurkos song of the day: Jacqueline -
by Franz Ferdinand
"I've had a wonderful time, but this wasn't it."
Wow, first off i urge everyone out there who considers them somewhat of a fan of Rock & Roll to go out and buy the cd "Franz Ferdinand" because hot damn this is one of the finest albums ive had the pleasure of listening to in a very long time. Actual melodies from a modern group? Not just routine pop-punk crap? Possibly even better than The Killers? Madness i know but it is very true and so much more. No politics being shoved forcefully down your throat with a hot poker, no constant bland powercords being ripped out to the tune of some moron screaming into a microphone. Pure musical greatness, and hey with a social joke as their band name how can i resist? Seriously its damn good stuff, and im only dissapointed that i took this long to find out about these guys.
Moving on, my apoligies for the constant "my life is rather bland, so lets go through it point by point" style posts; and i wonder why a great deal of the faithful have stopped reading this... my god (haha...haha...hooo) i sound like some cult leader. So that i dont bore you all half to death ill get it out of the way now, lifes been pretty much routine except for coming back down to calgary this weekend for turkey-fest. Man ive forgotten how good real food tastes, that and how much i miss being able to just sit back and watch tv. What i dont miss is wasting most of the weekend writing english essays that are for well rather obviously english (which is now officially my arch-nemisis in first year university course form). Did alright on my math midterm, not nearly as well as i thought i had which somewhat bites; its allright though the class avg was pretty low and i can make up so life goes on (plus the mark was a 77 so its not like i failed or anything). Jury's still out on the Chem quiz, i get that fun news on wed. On a side note if anyone tells you organic chem is fun kick them in the crotch and call the police cause they are a seriously disturbed person that most likely eats small kittens and trips nuns on the way to setting fire to an orphanage.
Gah if only i had the time to do these more often, wouldnt forget half the crap i plan on putting in these here rambles. I will say this though, with the US election coming so close, and all the debates and such wasting air time on TV i officially (as opposed to my prior unofficial stance on the matter) DO NOT GIVE ANY SEMBLANCE OF CARING, AT ALL about the US presidential election. It honestly ranks on my list of cares slightly less than did i get my malaria shots just in case im randomly para-dropped into the congo in 10 seconds. (GAAAHHH!! sorry side note, bloody fucking futureshop crap ass cd player refusing to play 2 songs on this tom petty CD. what is your problem you stupid piece of junk?? bleh, im done) Neither leader likes Canada at all, so regardless of who gets voted in were not really in a great position. I personally dont know enough about the whole Iraq issue to take a stance on it and im not going to be like every other brainless moron and jump on the "Lets hate Bush with a passion" bandwagon just because. Im sorry but i like to be informed before i make a decision, you know something that everyone should do in a democracy. What? Oh im sorry i was thinking of a perfect world, not the one we live in. Bleh to you general populace.
Sticking with politics, saw Bill O'Reilly on the daily show a few days back and i must say i was impressed. For a guy who is often potrayed as just a redneck, rightwing moron he is a pretty intelligent guy who is clearly well educated on both the candidates and even though a staunch conservative considering not voting Bush. That people is what democracy is supposed to be, learning about both candidate and deciding that way. NOT doing what ontario seems to love to do and vote oh say Liberal just because thats what they always vote. Hmm thats enough political ramblings for a science student, im coming far to close to sounding like some moron in poly-sci.
A few comments on the comments before i sign off, firstly Pilsners alright Maitland; never been a big fan of Corona that and when the Mexican guy on the floor laughed for a good 5min on hearing someone say they liked corona and then comment something to the effect that the Corona we get is what teenage girls drink (he was referring it to being as weak as water, aka no good. Im not being sexist, this was his comment not mine) somewhat killed all intrest in the drink. I do visit your blog i just had nothing to say, well unless you want me to get drunk and become the "Rocket Man" ala what Giacomo appearantly did. Hmm on that note theres someone i havent talked to in a looong while, Gman if u read this give me a shout; if not well im sure ill get a hold of ya eventually (via the lazy mans best friend, MSN). You would be suprised Neil at the massive amount of brain mass that is involved in each post. So much that it goes all the way around massive and back to nothing again. Sadly your the only one who commented on the obvious opening to mock and ridicule yurko so alas you win that contest *hangs own head in shame that no one else stepped up to the plate*. Well that pretty much brings this to a close, feel free to comment, cause lord knows im not going to stop you. Far to much effort and im not in the mood for becoming a tyrannical dictator tonight.
