Yurkos song of the day: I Don't Like Mondays - by The Boomtown Rats

"At the risk of sounding negative, no."

Well another post, somewhat recent compared to my previous string at the start of this semseter. Putting this one up mostly because i wanted to use todays song of the day eventually and frankly it just doesnt fit as well on any other day but a Monday. Other than that though I really dont have a great deal to talk about so not really sure why im doing this.
Amusing quote for me like always, this ones from futurama. The last one Jenn was funny to me just because it was absurd. I really dont know what context it came from within the Tick but it doesnt really matter to me.

Speaking of which it does appear that this old blog has returned to an audience of one so hey Jenn how's it going? At least its good to know that all the work i put into that new comment system wont go to waste.
School isnt really going all that hot this semester, marks are going down the shitter but honestly i have no one to blame that on but myself. Oh well there is still a half a semester to pull off some better grades/actually do some work so hopefully i can do just that. Reading week was reading week, i went into all of those details last post so there is no need for a repeat.
I did pick up my much searched for MP3 player though, and even if it is a complete waste of money i am definetly enjoying having my entire music library with me on the go. No its not an Ipod, that being one cult/fad i refuse to buy into (damn yuppies) but what is esentially the creative equivalent which i actually find alot better than an ipod. Esentially the same price, 1gb more of storage and replacable rechargable batteries. What i like about this thing the most though is that for some reason its shuffle function seems to be far superior to the rather unreliable one found with windows media player. I have been getting a far more reliable mix of music than i ever have sitting here at the old computer and that is a damn good thing.

So um yeah guess im done here, possibly one of my most pointless posts ever but hey thats ok its not like i have anything better to do right now like say studying or some bull crap like that.

Yurkos song of the day: Slow Hands- by Interpol

"The Fourth Dimension is just one big crazy do not enter clambake jungle of weirdity -- and how does it work? Never mind!"

Another post, trying to stick with the whole relativly regular posts such and so forth. Right in the thick of reading week, and boy is it nice. Mostly due to the much needed sleep on a good bed and the availablility of good food. I can do without the massive and grotesque amount of work i have to do (2 days in and its still not done, hooray procrastination!) but meh better than rez.

Hopefully today's quote isnt a repeat because well its just so absurd that of course i enjoy it immensly. I was hoping that by now i would be able to start putting up quotes from "The Deeper Meaning of Liff" but sadly i forgot to order it in at chapters and its something im going to have to do this week. Great song today by a great group, then again every song ive put up I have felt that way. Regardless download it somewhere and take a listen.

Not a great deal to discuss on this post, life has for the most part been rather mundane as of late. Due to the cold up in Edmonton/midterms i barely did anything at all while i was up there. Went to a friends house party on saturday which i can happily declare is 3 hours of my life i would gladly want back. Man oh man i have never been at a more boring party...ever! Well unless you enjoy sitting on a couch watching a muted skiing video while everyone else around you drinks and socialises because they all know each other already. Thats not saying i didnt try to meet people and socialise (pretty sure ive spelt that wrong twice) because i did but eventually it got to that point where you realise your never really gonna click with everyone else, followed by the why am i still here feeling and then the its nice to be driving home. Good times...goood times

At least sunday made for a better evening, even though saturday was pretty easy to top. Hung out with some old friends from highschool (aka victor, jenn and janelle) plus janelles boyfriend and rob followed by seeing Constantine. Now even though i am appearantly in the vast majority on this one I actually enjoyed the movie, quite a bit. First off the bat i thought that from a technical standpoint it was a very well made movie. Had a very stylish feel too it, CGI was pretty darn good and for me at least it made it easier to buy into the whole premise. Now granted its definetly not a film for everyone. If you dont have even a passing interest in the pseudo-occult, fantasy or what this film basically is comic book style fiction its very easy to be put off. I did find the idea put out in a way so that its realistic within its own world far better than other films of the same type. Keanu was serious when it was needed, but was at times the good old sarcastic wise-cracking action hero you would expect (The sequence when he fingers the devil near the end and the "should i take all my clothes off" scene were classic). Yet like i said it is definetly a film that requires the right state of mind and hey as far as somewhat mindless action flicks go it gets a thumbs up in my books. Plus the fact that the film far surpassed the last two matrix films which automatically makes it more worth that 11 bucks. There is no doubt it was a comic book movie although a far more mature one and hey if they make a sequal i think ill be one of the few who go and see it. (and hey getting to see the batman begins trailer was an added bonus as well :P {yeah yeah jenn like i said im a loser, pretty big one at that})

So yeah thats enough out of me i think for one day. As due to complaints i re-added the blogger comments system to suppliment the haloscan one if anyone has any problems with it. I must say they have made some good improvements to the system, mostly that it now comes out in its own window much like haloscan (or at least it should, who knows if it will work as promised) plus if your a blogger member it shows your profile picture etc. Kinda nifty and i hope at least one person uses it because it took a bit of work to get it going with my template.

    {Side note: there is a new Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy trailer up on their site that i have a link for over on ze left hand side so take a look. This one actually shows what the movie is going to be like so umm yeah...sasquatch?}

Yurkos song of the day: Such Great Hights - by The Postal Service

"I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member."

Up at 2:40am in the morning for no really good reason, completly sobre and lots to do tomorrow so what else should i do but make a very long coming blog? Sleep is of course not an option. Of course like always i dont really have much to say or to go on but I have almost let this site lapse into a deadened state that well it deserves something doesnt it?

Great song today by another one of those groups that ive really taken a liking too. Bit behind the times on them though, there all pseudo mainstream etc but whatever, its not like im claiming to be the first person to discover them or anything. Kudos to all who have heard them before and to the rest of you take a listen because nothing gets more mellow and cool at the same time. Also a truly hilarious, witty and well great quote from Groucho Marx today who is one of those great people that i would just love to be able to live up to. Nothing would be more fitting for myself (or at least i think so) to be able to whip off such witty lines at the drop of a hat. Ah if only...

Over this downtime of no posts ive added a few new links around the site. Now you will see links to such sites as The Scumm bar, a great site devoted to a truley great game series. That being the Monkey Island string of games which i urge all of you to try and play, download or hopefully and miraciously find and buy. Next would be a link to another blog, called The Grumpy Gamer which is not so co-incidentally done by the guy who created the previously mentioned game series along with a slew of other games that i thourougly enjoy. Very funny guy but it is a very video-game themed site so if your not really into all that you probably wont get any of it. I also added a link to the site for the up and coming Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy movie. It looks amusing but im somewhat aprehensive about this one because the books were just brilliant (in my limited somewhat skewed perception of brilliance). Hopefully its good but no one can know till it comes out. Finally i switched up Giacomo's link at the top for the one to jenn's new pseudo not really a blog site thing. Sorry giacomo if your reading this but well you update even less than i do so it got the boot.

What has happened since the last blog went up? well like the old cliche that my life is becoming and to a very large extent this site i am sure quite a bit but i cannot remeber as i am writing this. School still remains the tiring monster that it has always been, but well that in itself is nothing shocking. What will be shocking is if i pass this 2,000 word research essay on pride and prejudice. Stupid Jane Austen and her writing of books. Other than that nothing intersting school wise has occured. As for residence stuff well there is a bit more. Since the time of my last posting our tour in residence had the annual event known for some reason or another as "Skulk." Dont ask me why because hell if i know. What it boils down to is everyone doing rather stupid things in a competition for your floor to win stuff. Like going on a campus bar pub crawl on a wednesday night (whee that was fun...) or tequila sunrise (getting up at 5am, running up and down 10 flights of stairs and doing a shot of tequila). The two best events out of all of it mostly for the memories they made was the largest ongoing event and mystery lake. The longest ongoing event was well out back of lister they have an outdoor skating rink and apart of the skulk tradition is that every night from 8-8 the next morning you have to have someone from your floor on the ice at all times. Yes so nothing will make for a more interesting University experience than sitting on an outdoor hockey rink at 2am in the morning playing texas-hold'em poker against 9 other poor saps all in the same boat as you. I challenge you to come up with something more unique, stupid but not degrading and if you do well i tip my hat. Longest night of my life/roughest next morning of my life because my shift was a tuesday night and well yeah. Fun none the less though (damn poker, so bloody addictive).
The best part of Skulk was by far the culminating event, Mystery Lake. Or as it is more affectionatly referred to, Drink a Small Town Dry. The basic premise is that all of Henday hops into busses which take us out to some small non-descript town and its local bar and try to well drink it dry. I cant recall the name of the town but man was the Rush Sport's Bar a quality drinking establishment. What a crazy night, and the addition of there being some locals in the bar when we all came in made it all worthwile. Sounds kinda cruel in some ways, damn uppity university kids crashing a bar but hey it was fun, we probably gave the place more buisness in one night than it would see in a month and no one got hurt. Definetly a memory for the ages. Plus going in lab coats and lab glasses made it all the more abusurd (ahh im a loser, but hey life goes on).

Well that is more or less the end of all this. A few parting comments mostly that you know you are completly immature and extremly bored when you go halfway across the city to get food, liquor etc. you know the esentials and instead end up coming back with nerf guns and video games. The only plus from all of that was that when we got back and then proceded to get in the elevator that decides to get stuck, the nerf guns definetly helped pass the hour waiting for the repairmen to show up. Yeah well im a loser, it was already pointed out so live with it. Finally, today i picked up my ticket for The Killers concert in april which i am expecting to be nothing short of amazing. Had planned on going in calgary but it comes between my last two finals so ill be forced to see them up here in the frozen arctic. No matter though, it should be good fun to see them live and well worth the 30 bucks. Speaking of concerts I am extremly dissapointed/pissed off to no end that U2 is only doing 1 canadian date on the first leg of their tour and its in bloody Vancouver. They had better do a show in calgary or edmonton (hopefully on the eventual second or third leg) because this was one concert tour that i really wanted to see even before there new album came out. Sadly though even if they do come ill probably not go because appearantly all the tickets for all there events on this tour have been selling out in a matter of hours which is just too hard to compete with what with my cronic lazyness.
and now that my head is starting to hurt from staring at the monitor for so long i bring this to a half hearted close.
