Yurkos song of the day: Runnin' Down a Dream -
by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
"No one sends the Tick anywhere. Fate is my only master. Destiny signs my checks"
Yeah so why am i putting up a post at 12:18 in the morning after pulling an all-nighter finishing off a formal bio lab? Not sure really, the concept of owing you guys a new post floated around for a bit but then i realised im not one to bullshit on the internet considering its such a bastion of truth and accurate fact and all. Needless to say its moreso the fact that i tire of looking at the last post, but meh what are you going to do? It did have a quality quote which dissapoints me that no one commented on it. Life does press on though so i might as well.
Damn and blast organic chem/english 112; or the one-two sucker punch to my GPA as i like to call them (ok so i just came up with that now but i assure you that ill call it that from now on... of course i will... how will you know if i dont? Huh? punkass? yeah thats what i thought) Granted i have more or less already stated my extreme hatred for the two courses and why that is so i best not get into that again. All i will say is that ive got an essay due in a week (news to me up until today) and after that crap ass midterm i really have to work my sorry butt off to get a good mark in org. Not that you care but then again i dont care that you dont care so it all works out nicely.
Ahh dodgeball, what a blast especially now that we have the kick ass designs on the backs of our oh so ackward purple shirts (its a random selection of colours ok? plus ive heard that is a royal colour or something like that...). If any of you want to see the oh so great design (which i co-designed, esp the usage of the doom logo) here be a fancy little link:
Chubby Chicken of DOOM
yeah so enjoy, although i doubt anyone will understand but meh there is a little slice of the rez life for Yurko. If they ever get around to posting some of the many pictures etc up on the internet as planned ill be sure to make a link so you can observe that which is Henday Hall; Lister. Too bad we have to dismantle the Beeramid, a shame really we almost had the base built; so much promise...
What else, hmm provincial elections coming up. Cannot vote due to the fact that i havent lived here long enough to be a member of this riding and i missed the deadline to get an absentee ballot. Life goes on, its not like provincial elections really matter a great deal in Alberta right now. As long as oil prices stay up the PC will stay in power, thats just the way its going to be. Personally i dont really care either way, hooray voter apathy (oh man what a hypocrite i am, how many times have i raged about voter apathy?).
Ill comment on some comments and then wrap this up because although my brain says yes, my body says no and my lower left leg says cheese and who is going to argue with that? Not I thats for sure, only a foolish man disagrees with his lower left leg. I correct myself Neil it is moreso the creative part of my brain that refuses to put in any input most of the time, not so much the rest of the old thinker. (you disgress eh? if your going to mock my spelling at least try to keep yours up to par eh?) It would appear that we were talking about the exact same thing Jackie, you are thinking of part 2 of Another Brick in the Wall with the "you cant have any pudding until you eat meat" such and so forth. Part 3 is pretty much the general chorus of part 2 but sung (sung? im pretty sure thats wrong but word is all the way over there, to far to check the spelling) entirely by the lead singer of pink floyd whos name has slipped my mind at this point in time. Good guitar licks in part 3 but well nothing can compare to the goodness that is part 2.
Actually Keith the majority of the stuff you mentioned i have seen and played so no i dont restrict myself to just the good old GCN. The smaller PS2 is pretty slick looking, and after seeing screenshots of MGS:3 (its like the old school metal gear 2...drool) i am really tempted to pick one up. San Andreas ill wait for the PC release though, cause it is a great game even on the PS2 but oh how i miss my mouse aim/custom radio stations. Halo 2 is the biggest over-rated piece of crap this side of the spiderman movies. Man the game started off so damn promising too, that urban warfare portion was so slick and fun that a game based soley on the invasion of earth would have been a classic guaranteed. Yet no they had to go and leave earth for...another Halo filled with the same attacks by the flood in the exact same bland repetitive hallways. Oh wait! you get to do it all again but as the covenant this time! So much could have been done with the game, and yes the cutscenes are well done etc but your dropping 60 bucks for a good gameplay experience not a movie. Ah well i am sure you and neil will now reply with a "oh how foolish/wrong/biased you are chris" comment or something to that extent but whatever i have my opinion and the ability to duel wield weapons, fancy new textures on the vehicles and giving master chief a voice isnt going to change it. Prime 2 just came out although sadly i probably wont get a copy for christmas... alas theres always the summer. Cant wait till the DS/PSP release, good times should be had there. Oh has anyone played Half Life 2 yet cause i am probably gonna have to pick it up by the end of the month. Considering that the World's of Warcraft beta has now ended I am left with no games upon my computer to pass the time with. Well ok there is Doom 3 but honestly that really isnt a game that screams to be replayed, what with its incredibly varied action and never repetitive events and all that. Sigh i really need a good first person violence fix (note the good part I dont want any comments about go play Halo 2 from you guys, well moreso cause im talking about my computer and not one of the various x-boxes on the floor)
Yes well thats enough for one night, one final parting comment i came across a rather amusing web-comic (yes im a geek but i could care less) that is like Penny-Arcade (sometimes quite a bit funnier) and its Canadian! Great fun for all, and by all i mean well Neil and Keith. Regardless here be a link to it, enjoy and have a good one:

Yurkos song of the day: Soft Signals -
by Limblifter
"I may be an evil genius, but I can't predict every giant lizard that might wander by"
Giant Brain Fart from this point onwards==>
Yet again my goal of somewhat regularity on this site has bit me within the ass which somehow regulates my ablility to think of stuff to talk about. I question the validity of there being an actual link between my ass and creative ability, well unless you count the fact that thats where it all comes from :P Moving on..
Another rather good modern group, hooray living in Rez and having people to inform me of good new music. It is nice to know that only a vast majority of the music industry is crap and not the entirety of it all. Indeed, such and so forth... blah my brain just doesnt want to write anything today.
Procured the latest Terry Pratchett book this week,
Going Postal which thus far has turned out to be a rather good read. Granted when have i not liked on of his novels but this is beside the point. If your a fan i reccomend getting it much as i always do. Of course this just added to my scorn/hatred of chapters because it just reminded me of the fact that a book they claim came out at the beggingin of August (not the pratchett but another book by a diff author) they still do not have even though appearantly the rest of the world does. To top it off there blasted website still says that it should be stock in stores. DAMN YOU CHAPTERS and your lying ways... i will end you chapters...
Yeah so the US election is quite obviously over and it brought with it a very unsuprising result. What i find shocking is all of these Kerry supporters who thought that Bush wouldnt get re-elected. Comon people he is complete common denominator, and clearly had the support of most of the religious groups, gun toting farmers etc who are more likely to go out and vote than them city folk. I am personally sad that Nader did so poorely this election, but it just goes to show that a two party system the states is and a two party system is shall remain. No room for the mulit-billionare, educated little guy i guess. Honestly though i dont see why everyone is getting so freaked out etc that Bush is in power, nothing is really going to happen due to a few reasons. Firstly He IS NOT going to invade another country, in fact no one leading the US could right now. As formidable as there military is their resources are spead out far enough already with the war in Iraq, war on Terror and all the various other police actions, UN stuff etc that they are involved in to go and begin what would be a rather massive military campaign against say North Korea or Iran. Also they will never invade North Korea (or not for a while in any case) because of the simple fact that the South Korean's are looking more towards working on a peaceful relation with the North and much of the populace is dead set against a war on the North. Logistically it would be virtually impossible to stage a war on North Korea without support of the South, unless in some twist China allied with the states and decided to nuke the little nation off the face of the planet and if and when that happens i think we have a few greater concerns (like oh say the creation of one massive military power that could quite easily invade and control all the "superpowers" of the planet). As for Iran somehow i dont think the chiefs of staff are so stupid to piss of the greater muslim world even more by staging an invasion of Iran.
On another point what i dont think many people realise is that due to how the war in Iraq has been handled neither Bush nor Kerry is going to be able to pull the troops out for a long while. So even if Kerry was the president he would have esentially the same effect on the current war as Bush is going to.
As far as the economic condition of the US right now i personally dont know enough about economics and the various fiscal polices etc of the two to comment on that. So that being said ill move on and await your flaming retorts pointing out how im stupid/flawed/satan/unable to spell or punctuate.
I think ill just comment on the two comments and then call it quits. Well more or less in any case, first just a slight point on something that i realised this morning (?) Esentially the reason why i always request commentage from you good reader and also the reason why i still do this site is for one esential reason. This being of course for the fact that well obviously i am never going to get any random onlookers who have never met me personally, so this is esentially a writing for my friends. So basically i write this as a form of low response, slightly faster than actual mail conversation with you guys. For a few of you its pretty much the only way we correspond these days considering i havent seen a few of you online in a great length of existence, not to mention not talked to face to face since in most cases high school ended and at the extreme a good year and a half (possibly even longer). When you comment its a response to what ive said etc, keeps the dialouge going and well allows a semblance of staying in touch which is slightly importaint to well alot of things. Yaay ramble thats starting to sound odd so i digress.
Keith i totally agree that they should have ended it at 300 or possibly at the end of that season cause personally i always felt that 301 made for a far funnier episode. Saying that its just a cash cow now is totally on the mark (esp since theyve moved on to mastercard commercials from the old butterfinger ones). I heard of the infamous stewart appearance on Crossfire but i am yet to see it, and yes i have heard of and watched crossfire before. Frankly all of those shows are pretty stupid, small group of guys shouting there opinions over one another, never conceding anything and refusing to actually think of the other persons opinion. Crossfire is up there on the list of the worst, and after watching there brief snippets during the election coverage i totally agree that the moron in the bowtie is well a moron. Stewart is indeed at his prime, such a good show... Also i clearly pointed out later that i have no qualms with his liberalism on his show, its when a reporters opinion bleeds over into a supposedly nonpartisan news report that it pisses me off. Stewart doesnt hide from his bias and in a show of his format you cant fault the guy for it. Wow for once keith your info is totally flawed and on something to do with videogames no less. SHOCKING!! Considering the fact that neither system is out in japan yet and that the US gets the DS before japan anyways. To answer your question though i do plan to possibly get both systems, although obviously for me the DS will take priority. Now whether or not i have the money to get either or both is another question but in this case my obivous nintendo bias isnt really going to factor into my purchase because they both make for pretty cool systems in my opinion. Jackie, well lets face it Pt. 2 is the far more known portion of the song and although Pt.3 is a quality tune somehow it just doesnt compare (no kids chanting "we dont need no education..." comon what is this?). Pt. 2 for me just captures the essence of the song and all its coolness but meh its a matter of opinion and life will move on. As for my costume well it was rather half assed considering that due to my classes i missed out on the trip down to value village so that being said i ended up going as Steve Yzerman with an eyepatch (Yzerman...no eye...season ending injury...comon!!) yeah so it was slightly clever if your a hockey fan, still very half assed and most likely lame but i could honestly care less now and at that point for that matter.
Till Next Ramble
